What is a ceramic blanket?

It is a fireproof, insulated and flexible product. The primary material of this product is bulk ceramic fibers. Therefore, after the production of these fibers in a continuous process, the blanket product is prepared without the use of glue or any other binder in different thicknesses and densities, the strength of these blankets is provided by creating internal mechanical connections (needling) The tensile strength is about 40 to 120 KPa. The thickness of ceramic blankets is in the range of 5 to 60 mm and its density can be adjusted from 64 to 200 kg/m3.

Specifications of ceramic blanket:

1- Slow melting properties that can withstand temperatures in the range of 950 to 1430 along with insulation and strength properties. 2- Thermal conductivity and low heat capacity 3- Good thermal and chemical stability 4- High tensile strength and good thermal shock resistance 5- Ability to absorb good sound 6- Stable against mechanical vibrations

Classification of ceramic blanket:

Ceramic blanket is divided into 2 general categories based on density and operating temperature: Ceramic blanket of 1260 and 1450 degrees, which are also available in 64, 96 and 128 densities. This product is available in both 1 inch and 2 inch sizes and has unique features. It is worth mentioning that this product is produced in 2 centrifugal and wind blowing methods: 1- Centrifugal method: In this method, the fibers are converted into fibers due to the centrifugal force and the melting of the melt on the rotating rollers with high speed, the length of the fibers obtained from the melt is between 100-300 mm and the diameter is 3 It is 5 microns. The products produced by this method have a longer life and durability and tensile strength. 2- Wind blowing method: In this method, the needed ceramic fibers are produced by blowing wind on the molten nozzle. The fibers in this method have a length of 2-3 mm and a diameter of 50-100 microns.

Characteristics of ceramic blankets:

1- High plasticity 2- Low weight 3- Optimal sound insulation for use in chemical treatment 4- Low heat storage 5- High flexibility 6- Resistant to thermal shocks 7- Low heat transfer 8- Appropriate elasticity 9- No asbestos and a suitable alternative to asbestos 10- Very little shrinkage at high temperatures 11- Simple cutting for use in various purposes 12- Resistant to oxidation and reduction 13- Fast installation capability

Application of ceramic blanket:

  • Insulation of surfaces inside the thermal chamber of all types of industrial furnaces
  • Covering of casting nozzles (preventing oxidation and thermal shock)
  • Covering precision casting molds
  • Thermal sealing between different parts of melt pouring equipment
  • Steam boilers and thermal centers
  • Insulation on all types of temperature pipes
  • Repairs of all types of furnaces and heaters
  • As high temperature washers

Temperature standard for the production of ceramic blankets:

  STD-Standard: 1260 HA – High Alumina: 1400 HZ – High Zirconia: 1450
